President

Darren Rao

Darren is a Grade 12 student at Lord Byng Secondary School and the current president of the Arbutus Greenway Community Initiative. Since joining in Grade 9, he has contributed to projects ranging from weekly cleanups to restoring public benches and picnic tables. Darren has also helped lead new projects by coordinating with local partners, gathering feedback, and developing improvements along multiple stretches of the Greenway. His interests in environmental sustainability and community service motivate him to involve other youth in caring for shared public spaces. He hopes to continue working alongside his peers to create meaningful and lasting improvements throughout the Greenway.

Vice President

Victor Gong

Victor is a Grade 11 student at Point Grey Secondary School in Vancouver with interests in physics, mathematics, biology, and community involvement. Outside of school, he participates in cross-country and track & field and enjoys volunteering and reading about science and current events. As Vice President, Victor supports the foundation’s leadership, helps coordinate Greenway projects and volunteers, and contributes to ongoing efforts to keep public spaces clean, welcoming, and environmentally sustainable.

Aliyah Xu

Aliyah is an incoming Grade 12 student at Royal Bridge High School with a passion for music, communication, and community involvement. As Vice President, she looks forward to supporting the team, helping organize meaningful events, and bringing energy and creativity to the organization. She enjoys collaborating with others and contributing ideas that strengthen community engagement. Aliyah hopes to help create a welcoming environment where members can connect, contribute, and make a positive impact.

Bob Mao

Bob Mao is a Grade 12 student with a strong interest in mathematics, technology, and community engagement. He has participated in mathematics competitions including AMC 12, AIME, and USAMO, and is also involved in leadership and community initiatives outside of school. As Communications Coordinator, Bob supports the foundation’s digital presence and public communications, helping maintain its website and share its projects and environmental initiatives with the community. He hopes to use his technical skills, leadership experience, and sense of responsibility to contribute to meaningful local impact.

Communications Coordinator

Frank Fang is a Grade 11 student at Magee Secondary School with a strong interest in learning, community involvement, and exploring new experiences. Outside of school, he enjoys running, playing badminton, and spending time with friends. As Operations Coordinator, Frank supports the organization and coordination of foundation activities, helping ensure that community and environmental initiatives run smoothly. He looks forward to gaining new experiences while contributing to meaningful improvements throughout the Greenway.

Harry is a Grade 11 student at Grandview Heights Secondary School with a strong interest in strategic leadership, data analysis, and community engagement. He enjoys building meaningful connections, communicating ideas effectively, and working collaboratively with others to support shared goals. With an interest in applied mathematics, Harry is also drawn to problem-solving and finding thoughtful, practical approaches to new challenges. Outside of academics, Harry enjoys single-engine flying and participating in his local community. As Communications Coordinator, he looks forward to helping strengthen the organization’s outreach, keeping members and the community informed, and supporting projects through clear and engaging communication.

Project Manager

Anna Mao

Anna is a Grade 12 student at Royal Bridge High School in Vancouver and is excited to serve as a Project Manager for the Arbutus Greenway Community Initiative. She has a strong interest in business, artificial intelligence, and entrepreneurship, and enjoys exploring how creativity and innovation can be applied to real-world challenges. With an interest in leadership, organization, and developing new ideas, Anna looks forward to helping plan and coordinate projects that contribute positively to the local community.

Outside of academics, she enjoys fencing, photography, and traveling. Through her involvement with the Greenway, Anna hopes to collaborate with other members and help turn community-focused plans into meaningful projects and activities.

Project Manager

Vivian Ding

Vivian Ding is a Grade 11 student at Point Grey Secondary School who is passionate about community involvement and creating a positive local impact. As Project Manager, she helps coordinate foundation initiatives, organize project activities, and support the planning and execution of community and environmental efforts. She is excited to contribute to projects that strengthen local engagement and help keep shared public spaces clean and welcoming.

Secretary

Coco Lyu

Coco Lyu is a Grade 12 student at Crofton House School in Vancouver. She is interested in business and entrepreneurship and enjoys marketing, creative projects, and collaborating with others. Outside of school, she pursues art and dance and enjoys spending time with friends. As Secretary, Coco supports the foundation by helping organize records, document ideas and decisions, and maintain clear communication within the team. She values creativity, teamwork, and responsibility and hopes to contribute positively to her community.

Greenway is made up of a passionate team committed to promoting environmental sustainability in Vancouver. We strive to keep the streets of our city clean and green, and engage in community outreach to further our mission. Each of our 14 sections, spanning from 10th to 70th street, is managed by a group of one or two individuals dedicated to keeping their area pristine.
