Anna Wang

Anna is a senior at Magee Secondary School and the founding president of the Arbutus Greenway Community Initiative. Since joining in Grade 9, she has led the transformation of the space by organizing weekly cleanups, securing funding, and installing picnic tables, benches, and planters across the Greenway. Her leadership helped build partnerships with city programs and schools, and she introduced the QR code feedback system to deepen community engagement. Anna believes in giving youth a voice in shaping public space and creating lasting, visible change in the neighborhoods they call home.

Foundation Vice President

Amy Hu

Amy is a senior at Magee Secondary School and serves as the Vice President of the Arbutus Greenway Community Initiative. She has been involved since Grade 10 and plays a key role in managing school partnerships, coordinating garden and planter installations, and building community outreach. Alongside Rachel, Amy co-developed the Arbutus Greenway progress map and continues to maintain the initiative’s website. She is passionate about using digital tools and hands-on action to connect youth with nature and to turn public space into a shared effort between generations.

Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

Rachel Shi

Rachel is the CTO of the Arbutus Greenway Community Initiative and a student at Pinetree Secondary school. She co-built the project’s digital progress map and now leads the development of its website and QR code-linked pages. Rachel is dedicated to using tech and design to make the team’s impact visible—from tracking installations to telling the stories behind each project. As Creative Director in the early stages, she helped document the group’s journey through visuals; now, as CTO, she ensures the initiative’s work stays accessible, transparent, and inspiring for the wider community.

Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Fiona Deng

A key asset since ninth grade, Fiona is the COO of the Arbutus Greenway Community Initiative. Currently attending Lord Byng Secondary School, Fiona takes great care in making sure projects, tasks, and outreach initiatives are carried out within the foundation. She coordinates volunteers, secures permits, and ensures safety and accessibility at community events. Fiona has led community clean-ups and educational outreach that bring students, families, and seniors into the project. Known for her calm, bias-to-action leadership, she writes concise updates for the board and turns feedback into iterative improvements. Above all, she delivers reliable results while maturing the next wave of community leaders.
